Are you ready for your horse riding adventure in Tuscany, Italy?
Dark green hills of endless vineyards, a farmhouse with the smell of Italian cooking wafting out of the kitchen windows. Horses that do the final stretch up the hill, and we have arrived. A shower and sit down for dinner. Oh, and wine, of course.
Come along on a ride through vineyards and Tuscan hills! Ride past old farmhouses and dream about buying them and restoring them for yourself – terracotta floors and old wells included. Think of good wine and sundried tomatoes, colours and spices, all in a beautiful mix. There you go. That is Tuscany.
Small groups, caring guides
The groups are hardly ever bigger than eight people, making it possible
for each guest to feel not just like any other guest. Here in Tuscany you
are cared for by very sympathetic guides and house owners.
Sunny Tuscany. There is a reason it is called that. Probably because the sun stays in all the vegetables that grow here, and in the wine and olive oil. This is truly a place for soft lifestyle and down to earth good food.
Local horses
The local horse tradition has very ancient roots - it goes back to the medieval and futher.
The horses are from different breeds depending on the area. There are the Maremmani -
the working horses, there are Halfblood (mix of Arab and Thorougbred) horses - used for races -
and there are small horses with different breeding.
There are three diffent horse riding trips in Tuscany
- Le Crete - the clay hills of Siena, where medieval castles and villages are scattered among landscapes of rare beauty. The horse barn Il Poggio from Enrica has more than 20 years of experience in organizing horseback riding holidays. The perfect place to spend a vacation with the family to do dialy riding and to enjoy the SPA in the nearby San Casciano.
- Saturnia - an ancient roman bath in the hard of Tuscany. From here you
start your 5 day horse trail to
discover the beautifull landscape and
mystic Etruscan villages like Pitigliano, Sorano and Sovana.
Your local guide is Dusca from a horse family. - Casa Mariotti Sul Fiora - one of the historical farms in the Maremma region, where the traditions are still alive. There are typically huge cattle breeders and wood owners in the area. You can stay here for a weekend ore some days more to find quietness and live in harmony with the nature.
Its necessary to think also about food - which means the unique Italian cuisine, and a special choice of vegetarian food is, of course, a given.
