Are you ready for your horse riding adventure in Tuscany, Italy?
Dark green hills of endless vineyards, a farmhouse with the smell of Italian cooking wafting out of the kitchen windows. Horses that do the final stretch at a canter up the hill, and we have arrived. Drinks in the garden, and then a shower and sit down for dinner. Food? AGAIN? Oh, and wine, of course.
Come along on a speedy ride through vineyards and Tuscan hills! Ride past old farmhouses and dream about buying them and restoring them for yourself – terracotta floors and old wells included. Think of good wine and sundried tomatoes, colours and spices, all in a beautiful mix. There you go. That is Tuscany.
Small groups, caring guides
My groups are hardly ever bigger than eight people, making it possible
for each guest to feel not just like any other guest. Here in Tuscany we
are cared for by a very sweet family, Michele and his wife Nicola, and
their children. Michele takes us riding all over the hills, to yet
another fantastic little farmhouse. And Nicola does all the logistics,
taking care of everything else.
Sunny Tuscany. There is a reason it is called that. Probably because the sun stays in all the vegetables that grow here, and in the wine and olive oil. This is truly a place for soft lifestyle and down to earth good food.
Amazing horses
This is a ride for people who are very experienced riders and who like
speed. The pace is fast and active, both cantering and galloping occur,
and it is important that you know what you are doing on horseback. This
is not a ride for un-experienced riders. The horses are extremely fit
and eager to go, really fun rides with the occasional jump over natural
obstacles in the forest.
Lodging is very good. We stay every night in a new farm house, doing a full circle around the southern Siena region in a week. Most farms we stay at are newly restored and very comfortable.
Special trail rides
Two different rides take place in these surroundings: the Dogane Senesi
trail in the summer and the Etruscan Journey trail in Spring and Fall.
The food on the tour is fantastic Italian cuisine, and a special choice of vegetarian food is, of course, a given.
Full board and more
Nicola takes care of our lunches on the trail, waiting for us hungry
riders in the shade of a tree, with pasta, bread, wine and water. At
dinner-time we dine with the people at the farmhouse where we are
staying. There is of course a possibility to try the local wines and
other local produce, and Michele will tell you stories about Tuscany
well into the night.
